This circa 1870s 2 storey heritage style home is located in the heart of Oakville, just steps away from its trendy shopping district and Lake Ontario.
In order to bring this house up to current standards, the scope of work included removal and replacement of the existing foundations walls, re-cladding of the entire existing house, re-structuring of the interior walls, new stairs, new kitchen, new rear yard addition, and overhaul of the entire second floor.
With strict municipal, guidelines, all design concepts had to be approved by the local heritage committee and City Planners. The existing look of the house could not be compromised and had to be maintained foremost. Therefore the new rear yard addition had to accent the existing old world charm but differentiate itself so one could see the difference between the two different areas.
Our solution was a modern approach with flat roof lines, a mix of stone, large aluminum windows, and wood & cedar cladding which brings this old world home into the 21st.
Construction completed Winter 2013.
