Contemporary Facelift

Appleby / Lakeshore, Burlington, Ontario
The owners of this existing 2 storey home in Burlington Ontario came to us with a need for change that was both contemporary and unique to the neighborhood. After all the variances and approvals were in place we were able to transform this tired and dates 1970s home into something relevant, current and visually stunning.

The main floor is based on an open concept floor plan. White its 10 foot high ceilings, large kitchen / entertainment and dining areas that opens up to a rear yard pool and double sided fireplace. This is the area where the family spends the majority of their time so it was important to make it functional and large enough for all. The mudroom at the front of the house is accessible from both the garage and front foyer and includes a specialty coffee bar and 4 separate computer stations so everyone in the family can stay linked in its own personal space.

The upstairs with its open modern staircase has 2 children’s bedrooms, play are and a master bedroom with 12 foot high ceilings. This bedroom includes his and hers walk-in closets which lead to a master ensuite with stone fireplace and high transom windows.

Finally, the home’s exterior use of warm materials including stone wing walls and western red cedar siding help tie the contemporary grey stucco cladding and dark aluminum fascia boards together and bring new life into this architecturally tired neighbourhood.
